Yamaha WaveRunner riders took the broom handle to the competition at the Pro Watercross national tour finale in Charleston, West Virginia, sweeping all four Pro Runabout national titles. With double points on the line at the sixth and final round, Yamaha FZR and VXR riders proved their mettle, recording one of the most dominate finishes in recent years.
The weekend was highlighted by two title winner Aero Aswar and his Dean’s Team tuned FZR, winning the Pro Runabout Open and Pro Runabout Stock championships despite a serious knee injury suffered at Round 1 in the surf. The Pro Stock class concluded with six of the top seven finishers riding the SVHO-powered FZR, including Yamaha’s Troy Snyder who finished 2nd overall followed by teammates Brian Baldwin, Aqsa Aswar and Dennis Mack.
Pro Runabout Limited racing was equally exciting for Team Yamaha and the FZR with Aqsa Aswar (younger brother of Aero Aswar) taking home the national title. Yamaha FZR rider Dennis Mack was in the hunt all summer long, finishing 3rd overall.
Rounding out the title sweep is Yamaha VXR rider and defending national Normally Aspirated champ Rob Greenwald. Greenwald went undefeated this season and took home the Normally Aspirated title once again. The N/A class saw five of the top five finishers riding Yamaha’s including Clay Barbee who finished second overall.
Congratulation to Yamaha partners Dean’s Team and Riva Racing for a superb season of WaveRunner racing.
